The family that plays together in Greenville has LOTS of fun together!  Here’s how my own family likes to play away a weekend afternoon:

First Stop…lunch!

Fuel your bodies for an active afternoon with lunch at City Range Steakhouse on Haywood Road.  Sit out on the patio and enjoy their Bourbon Pecan Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes (a family favorite for us!).  Finish your meal with one of their “Just Enough Desserts.”  Insider’s Tip:  If Sunday is your day to “get out and play,” try the brunch at City Range, starting at 11:30 AM.  The Bourbon Pecan Chicken is on the brunch menu, too…yay!

Second Stop...park and play!

One of the great things about living in Greenville County is our awesome parks!  Hop in the car after lunch (or brunch) and head over to one of my family’s favorites…Legacy ParkInspired by NYC’s Central Park, this local gem has water features, open fields (perfect for flying kites or a game of soccer) and walking/biking trails.  Kids will love to explore the man-made stream as much as the playground and bench swings.  It’s a fun park for the whole family!  Insider’s Tip:  Parents with smaller children will appreciate the shade of the park’s restroom/covered picnic pavilion.

Last Stop…pedal power!

Be sure to pack your bikes in the morning before you head out on your day of outdoor play, because you’ll need them for your fun family bike ride around the CU-ICAR Millennium Campus!  Located just a quick car drive down Laurens Road from Legacy Park, you’ll find lots of space to pedal here!

THAT Something Extra:

Welcome to Bikeville!

Greenville is a bike-friendly place to play!  Check out the City of Greenville’s “Bikeville” initiative and find great ways to enjoy a ride!

Another fun way to “play!”

Why not throw some “drama” into your day together and take in a play at the Greenville Little Theatre?  Better yet, why not become a part of the show?  The Theatre holds open auditions for anyone in the community who is interested in contributing to a performance…no experience necessary!  Check their website for info.
