A romantic get-away doesn't need to cost a lot of cash, doesn't always have to require packing, and can happen on any given Saturday-right in your own downtown!  Here is my idea of how to turn a morning walk down Main Street into a hand-holding time for two!

First Stop:

Get an early start to your get-away day by sharing some together time over a breakfast sandwich and latte at Joel's Java Coffee Shop, located inside the historic Westin Poinsett Hotel.  If you need a more substantial meal to fuel your day, try a full breakfast at the Westin's Spoonbread Restaurant (their Traditional Eggs Benedict is out-of-this-world delicious!).

Second Stop:

Once you're finished your morning meal, step outside and down the street a bit to the Poinsett Society Water Fountain.  Make a romantic wish and toss two coins into this landmark fountain, designed by local architect, Kirk Robins Craig.  Insider's Tip:  Craig's architectural designs are also behind many of Greenville's much-loved buildings, including The Peace Center for the Performing Arts, the Greenville Little Theatre, and the Greenville County Museum of Art.

Third Stop:

Now that you've wished for the perfect day together, stroll over to the TD Saturday Market for some "country in the city" food and fun.  The Market is a great place to support local farmers and craftspeople by sampling and purchasing fresh produce, delicious baked goods and wonderful hand-made wares.  Be sure to grab a sample of the unbelievable Shrimp and Grits from Soby's on the Side (to add some romance, ask for two spoons...although this dish is so incredible, you may each want your own sample!).  Insider's Tip:  Take a few minutes to talk to some of the farmers and local people who are making a difference in our community, like those from The Generous Garden Project, and make plans for a great follow-up date day next weekend volunteering with one of them!

Last Stop:

End your downtown Saturday escape for two by "spicing" things up a bit with lunch at Ford's Oyster House & Cajun Kitchen (a quick walk to the historic West End of Main Street just past Falls Park).  A must for starters are their Hand Battered Pickles (perfect for sharing!).  Enjoy the romantic views of Falls Park as you dine.  I recommend the Grilled Blackened Salmon BLT and a leisurely game of pool (where you'll let your sweetie win, of course!).

THAT Something Extra:

Let the romance continue!

As morning turns into afternoon, spend even more quality time together exploring the eclectic shops and creative artist's galleries along the historic West End of Main Street.  Christopher Park Gallery Postcard from Paris, and Pedal Chic are just a few!

Carriage rides = romance.

Nothing says "romance" quite like a horse-drawn carriage ride or rickshaw ride for two!  Check out this unique way to travel and explore downtown together.
