While lots of people seek out "alone time" for decompressing, I think a blend of a little "me" time and some good, quality family time gives me the perfect, relaxing result!

Early Morning:

Here's where the "me" time comes into play!  I start the day early with a healthy, long run on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.  I get to do something I love (running) while taking in the beauty and sound of the Trail's surroundings.  It's such a peaceful way to start my Saturday! 

Mid Morning:

Before I head home after my run, I stop by the TD Saturday Market downtown and pick up some fresh, local fruits for my family's breakfast.  After a relaxing shower, I enjoy making a healthy morning meal for my family, and then we head back to the Swamp Rabbit Trail on our bicycles to enjoy some relaxing family time together.  Insider's Tip:  With several great places to park along the Trail, you can easily plan your ride, run, or walk according to time and location!

Late Morning into Early Afternoon:

Moving at a leisurely pace, we make sure to take time to go by the Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery to grab a cup of coffee and to pick up our produce box, which is stuffed with the best local and organic produce around!  My son always wants to stop and have fun at every playground we pass on our ride, so we do (his favorite is the one at the Kroc Center)!  Insider's Tip:  There are lots of great places to grab a bite to eat along the Trail.  Be sure to also check out the Café at Williams Hardware!

Late Afternoon:

Time for a little more relaxing "me" time!  In the late afternoon, I enjoy taking a few minutes to unwind with a massage from Urban Nirvana.  For a total splurge, I suggest their 90-minute Aroma Power Massage!


After my wonderful massage, I round out my fun-yet-relaxing day by meeting up with my adorable family at The Bohemian Café.  I really like their black bean burger and sweet potato fries.  My son, on the other hand, has his own idea of a culinary treat...a PB&J "sammich!"  I have to admit that sometimes I like to have one of those yummy treats, too!

My two favorite places to gear up for a run are Greenville Running Company (the most knowledgeable staff in town) and Run In (I absolutely love their selection of brightly colored running apparel!).

Off-the-trail healthy lunch:

If you're looking for a great, healthy lunch that's a little further off the Swamp Rabbit Trail, than head a block south on Main Street from the entrance to Falls Park and treat yourself to a meal at Rainer's.  I love that their menu changes daily and the selections available are based on ingredients that are local and in season (their black bean salsa pairs perfectly with their fabulous BLT!).
