We asked Furman student McKenzie Martin to give us the low-down on Paladin favorites. From fair trade coffee to nearby nature, check out the Furman bests from a student POV!

1. Where is your favorite place to grab a bite to eat?

I head to Kerrie's Deli & Pub for their delicious made-with-love sandwiches. Or I like to go to the Café at Williams Hardware - it has a down-home, cozy feeling and is right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Plus the store at the front is a great spot for gifts!

2. Where do you like to kick back when you've got some extra downtime?

The Forest Coffeehouse on South Main Street in Travelers Rest - they serve delicious farmer direct coffee and have a great eclectic vibe, including open mic nights.

3. What is your go-to retail shop?

I have to say that Anthropologie on Main Street is one of my absolute favorite stores to go to for shopping, or even just looking at the beautiful displays the creative minds have set up around the store.

4. What is your favorite place to get some fresh air and soak up some sun?

Furman's campus itself is a beautiful place to walk and bike, but I love heading up to Caesar's Head with my dogs and taking the hiking trail to the overlook at Raven's Cliff Falls on a warm day in September, especially when the leaves are getting ready to change.

5. Where do you go for a change of study time scenery?

It is essential to have a good study spot off-campus when you need to get away. When in need of some downtime or a quiet place to crack into your work, Tealoha on McBee Avenue is the place to go. Nothing like settling into a comfortable booth with a hot Masala Chai and your Art History books to make studying seem so much less like...well, studying!

THAT Something Extra:

Family Time Fun

If my mom and I are going out for a girls' day of shopping and having fun, we usually go to Roost for some unbeatable flatbread pizza and an awesome view of Main Street.
