Spring:

Springtime means strawberry picking and Beechwood Farms in Travelers Rest is the perfect place to get your fill!  From late April to mid-June, this popular local farm offers row after row of juicy strawberries primed for the picking. They also offer mustard and turnip greens, peas, onions, squash and cucumbers beginning in May. Insider's tip: The farm is closed on Sundays, so plan your visit accordingly. If you're unable to visit the farm, keep in mind that Beechwood Farms produce can be found at local farmer's markets like the Hub City Farmer's Market in Inman and the TD Saturday Market in downtown Greenville.

Summer:

In South Carolina, late June through late September is prime time for pick-your-own blueberries and peaches. For the best blueberries around, visit Arrowhead Acres in Travelers Rest and stroll through more than three acres of blueberry bushes to choose your berries!

For those sweet, succulent peaches for which the Upstate area is so famous, head to Fisher's Orchard in Greer. Fisher's Orchard grows over 30 varieties of peaches in the summertime months. Insider's tip: No time for pick-your-own peaches? Make a quick stop at Fisher's produce stand for pre-picked plums, watermelons, and lots of other fruits and veggies that will make your summertime recipes sizzle.

Autumn:

When the air turns brisk and the leaves change color, it's time for apple and pumpkin picking! Fall excitement is waiting at Niven's Apple Farm, located just outside Greenville in Moore, SC. This farm tops many family tradition lists and for a good reason: in addition to a huge selection of pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, Niven's offers family fun in the form of hay rides and a huge corn maze! Hang out with animals, take a wagon ride, or just spend a laid-back day roaming the farm with your family!

Winter:

Even in the winter months, there's a harvest to be enjoyed. When the holiday season hits, load up the family and head to May-Lan Tree Plantation in Pelzer to pick out and "harvest" your family's Christmas tree. Be sure to snag some of their gift-worthy sweet treats including jellies, jams, ciders, and syrups. Don't leave without trying their "Almost Famous" Caramel Apple Delight!
