Cigar Box Making Class

This small class is limited to 10 tickets! Assemble your own cigar box guitar with Anthony Walker of Southpaw Cigar Box Guitars. Walker crafts guitars using modern materials and techniques rooted in old blues traditions of creating musical instruments from whatever materials were available. The description of the guitars will be a three string commonly referred to as a gitty. The scale length will be 25.5 inches. The fingerboard will be slotted for 24 frets allowing for a two octave range. The bodies of the guitars will be of dovetail construction and properly braced for years of playing entertainment. Inside the body of the guitar will be an acoustic pickup allowing for electric amplification. This class is for acoustic guitars but an upgrade to magnetic pickup may be provided at another date.

If anyone wants to provide their own box the box need to have a inside depth of 2 inches and a minimum length of 9.75 inches, an excellent example of a very good box is the Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Fuente box. Boxes must be labeled and dropped off by May 7 to be included in the workshop. Otherwise a box will be provided for you.
