Art by Tom Flowers, Professor Emeritus of Art at Furman University, and family will be on display Oct. 5-Nov. 2 in Thompson Gallery of the Roe Art Building on campus. Regular Thompson Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. A reception including a talk with the artists is set for Friday, Oct. 19, 6-8 p.m. in the Roe Art Building.

The reception and the exhibition, “Lineage: Tom Flowers & Family,” are free and open to the public. Hosted by the Furman University Department of Art, the exhibition features the work of Tom Flowers, Mark Flowers, Kristy Higby, Carson Higby-Flowers, Morgan Higby-Flowers, Virginia Griswold and Tia Flowers.

In “Lineage,” the artists honor the creative spirit that has grown through three generations and inspired six visual artists, all connected through family ties. Tom Flowers taught art at Furman University from 1959-1989. This exhibition showcases his work alongside works by his son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandsons and granddaughter-in-law.

Their works include acrylic painting, sculpture, mixed media narrative paintings, street photography, small metals wearable art, electronic integrated art, glass sculpture and more.
