James Armistead Lafayette, portrayed by Stephen Seals
Everybody loves a good spy story. How about an American slave that volunteers to spy for the Continental Army, does such a credible job of it, he gets recruited to be a double agent for the British gaining the confidence of both General Cornwallis and traitor, Benedict Arnold?
It’s an exciting story of a bogus “runaway slave” living a dangerous life behind enemy lines ferreting out information and spreading “mis-information” that allows the American forces to triumph at the Battle of Yorktown.
Not fiction . . . True story. . . And you get to hear it told by Colonial Williamsburg’s Stephen Seals.
This Festival is funded in part by the Metropolitan Arts Council which receives funding from the City of Greenville, BMW Manufacturing Co, Michelin NA, SEW Eurodrive, the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts as part of the American Rescue Plan, the Greenville City Accommodations Tax Fund and the generous Friends of Greenville Chautauqua.
