JOHN DEVLIN AND CHRISTYLEZ BACON: MUSIC FOR OUR MOMENT
John Devlin, currently music director of the Wheeling (West Virginia) Symphony Orchestra, leads the Greenville Symphony in an innovative vocal percussion work by Evan Meier and Christylez Bacon: “Migrations in Rhythm: A Concerto for Beatbox and Rhyme,” with Bacon as soloist. Devlin opens the performances with Caroline Shaw’s “Entr’acte” and concludes with Shostakovich’s powerful Fifth Symphony.
