Audience:                              This is designed specifically for trainees that have previously attended a two-day Motivational Interviewing Core Training for Non-Clinicians.


Fee:                                        Registration is $75.00.
 


Description:          This one-day “Non-Clinicians MI Booster Training” goals will be to review the basic MI skills, assess participants “sticking points”, continue learning to identify “change-talk”, and  look at ways to deescalate upset clients through conversation. Lecture, role-play, and video examples will be utilized.


Objectives:            At the end of this training participants will be able to:


1. Describe the four processes utilized in Motivational Interviewing


2. Illustrate the four foci of the MI spirit


3. Explain the contrast of sustain and change talk


4. Discuss concrete strategies for addressing discord in the conversation.


5. Demonstrate through role-play the ability to provide empathic reflective statements.


Alan Lyme, LISW, ICADC, ICCS, MAC, is the Training Director for the Phoenix Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Alan has provided trainings nationally on Motivational Interviewing, Clinical Supervision, and Skills on Working with Men. He received a BSW from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and a MSW from Barry University in 1999.  Alan spent five years as clinical supervisor for a men’s residential program in Florida, and eight more years supervising health educators for various SBIRT grants. He is an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers University where he frequently teaches Clinical Supervision. Alan is also a MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) recognized Motivational Interviewing trainer.
