Panel: What Makes a Good Play

At Centre Stage on Friday August 12 at 2pm.

Kick off the South Carolina New Play Festival at Centre Stage on Friday, August 12 at 2pm with a free panel investigating the development process for new plays and musicals, the ways in which a play can find it’s voice through the reading/workshop process, and what distinguishes successful plays from unsuccessful ones. Led by Dramaturg Kimblery Colburn, it will be an event not to be missed for theater lovers. 

Kimberly Colburn was South Coast Rep’s literary director and co-director of the Pacific Playwrights Festival. She was also the literary manager at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Around North America, she has dramaturged dozens of world premieres and other productions, workshops, and readings and worked with companies including Denver Theatre Company, Los Angeles Opera, Mixed Blood Theatre, The Playwrights Center, the Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference, Oregon Contemporary Theatre, Critical Mass Ensemble, Artists at Play, Musical Stage Company (Toronto), Soulpepper and Native Voices at the Autry.
