Part 2:Pathway of the Prescription Next Steps
This is a followup session to the "pathway of the Prescription" community forum. Presenters will identify the historical impact on current state and national strategies to improve safety, and increase knowledge of all health professionals on their role in the cultural change in opioid use. Gaps in knowledge regarding Opioid Epidemic, appropriate and safe use, storage, and destruction of medications will also be discussed.
Other content to be discussed:
Review the history of opioid use and the impact of the current opioid epidemic in the US.
Review national and state legislation to mitigate the opioid epidemic.
Assess resources available to health care practitioners to provide guidance in managing accurate and chronic pain.
Discuss strategies that health care practitioners can undertake to serve their patients and communities in combating this epidemic.

LONG TERM CARE ADMINISTRATORS: This program is pending approval by the South Carolina Board of Long Term Care Administrators for 2.5 hours.
MEDICAL ASSISTANTS: This program qualifies for U hours of NON AAMA continuing education for recertification. PHARMACY: The University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This is a knowledge-based program. This program is accredited for a total of 2.5 live contact hours (0.25 CEUs) for pharmacy technicians. To claim credit, participants must sign-in at the beginning of the session and attend the entire session. No partial credit will be issued.
Participants must complete an online evaluation within 30 days (providing their correct NABP e-profile number and day/month of birth) in order to ensure credit is reported to the NABP CPE Monitor.
