Taste of the Upstate Celebrates Culinary Arts with a Magical Makeover

Greenville, SC—On Sunday, April 28, celebrate with Loaves & Fishes at the return of their beloved annual event—the 28th Annual Taste of the Upstate. Attracting over 300 attendees each year, Taste of the Upstate celebrates the idea of food as our common ground and a human right.

Join Loaves & Fishes and a dozen of the Upstate’s most talented Chefs for an event featuring spellbinding flavors, a glamourous silent auction, and the bewitching sounds of Greenville’s own award-winning Darby Wilcox.

Culinary magicians are the heart of this year’s Taste of the Upstate. Competing for five (5) coveted awards including the “Magical Makeover” prize, these culinary artists are challenged to use their magic to create an enchanted new version of a classic dish.

Returning Chefs include Chef Salome Hine and Chef Deborah Bouts. These returning Chefs from last year's Taste of the Upstate promise to delight. Last year, her Beet Soup garnered Chef Bouts the Best Original Dish Award while attendees from last year are still talking about Chef Hine's famous spring rolls.

Also, returning is Chef Mike Sibert. The winner of the People's Choice Award during last year's event, Chef Mike was recently named one of only three Chef Ambassadors of South Carolina for representing the culinary tradition while endorsing agricultural support within the Palmetto State. This year’s Taste of the Upstate finds Chef Mike transforming two dishes of his choosing—burgers and fries; and waffles.
