Member Spotlight:
The Southeast Center for Photography
Providing photographers an avenue to an audience
This member spotlight was originally published in May 2022.
Imagine an artist exhibition space, steps off Main Street, that transports you into the mind and frames of accomplished photographers from around the world. That’s just what Michael Pannier, Founder/Executive Director, sought after opening the doors of The Southeast (SE) Center for Photography on Broad Street in 2015. Whether not you purchase a piece of art from their walls or not, you'll leave inspired to capture more memories of the things and people you love.
With 3 unique gallery spaces, a library lounge, a portfolio review area, a classroom space, and bookstore, the SE Center for Photography provides photographers the avenue to find an audience of collectors, curators, enthusiasts, interior designers, colleagues, and even the traveling passerby.
Beyond the local talent on exhibit, you’ll find national and international photographers of all skill levels showcasing their work through a series of juried exhibitions. Of the 12 juried exhibitions annually, The SE Center for Photography has attracted the attention of more than 4,000 photographers from over 75 countries who boldly place their craft in the hands of jurors who are leaders in contemporary photography, respected gallerists, publishers, and photographers whom photographers want viewing their images.
After you’ve sipped on your coffee and enjoyed the juried exhibition, you must check out the exceptional photographers that are invited to participate in solo or group shows.
Whether you’re an expert photographer or a passerby, you’ll find inspiration and may even stumble into a workshop or conversation with the Center team that’ll challenge, encourage, and even inspire the photographer in us all.
