South Carolina New Play Festival

The SC New Play Festival will occur Aug 12-14.

During the weekend, readings of three new plays and one new musical will be presented, along with professional training classes and a closing-night cabaret from Tony-Nominee Jarrod Spector (Beautiful; the Carole King Musical, The Cher Show, Jersey Boys) and Broadway celebrity Kelli Barrett (Wicked, Rock of Ages, Gettin’ the Band Back Together).

The festival will feature readings of Kate Hamill's The Scarlet Letter, directed by Shelley Butler, Kareem Fahmy's Dodi and Diana, directed by Adrienne Campell-Holt, Adam Ben-David, Christyn Budzyna, and Jessica Penzias' musical From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, directed by West Hyler, and Samantha Miller's show for young audiences, Dragonsoul Offline.

Readings will feature well-known actors as well as beloved performers from the local area and will be helmed by established and experienced directors with a national profile. This is a go-to destination event for theater lovers across the Southeast and a unique opportunity to meet the artists and see the future of American Theater.

All readings will be free with first-come, first-serve open seating. Reserved seating will be available for Patrons and VIPs of the SC New Play Festival.
