Suggested Itineraries

Live like a local

That Greenville brings out the pride in a wide range of locals who have their own ways to enjoy the city. So, we’ve asked several to share how they enjoy Greenville’s outdoors, family fun, music, art, food, farms, shopping, etc. There’s sure to be an itinerary here to match almost every taste.

From Downtown Greenville to Landrum and Travelers Rest, there are some spectacular sites to behold in our foothills. With so many streams and rivers criss-crossing through our towns and backwoods, it's no surprise to find a collection of bridges, from the historical to the modern, that provide gorgeous views, lovely pictures, and fascinating legends. Each one is magical in its own way, so prepare for a fun day of touring our famous bridges!

A terrific way to sample some of downtown Greenville's best restaurants is by doing a tapas crawl. Here are my suggestions for a small-plate itinerary, which will transport you in the culinary sense from the South to South-of-the-Border and beyond. Stops are arranged conveniently along Main Street from north to south. Bring some friends to share the fun!

We all love fresh food, and the best way to connect with your family and get healthy is to get kids involved in the process by visiting local U-pick farms. Getting the whole family involved in food gathering and preparation is important for children to learn where food comes from. They are more likely to try healthy foods if they are involved in the process. This weekend I sought out local U-pick farms in the Greenville area.

As the former textile capital of the world, it should come as no surprise that Greenville has a fashionable side. In fact, there are many local designers that call Greenville home-from the design duo at Beija-Flor Jeans who've created the "World's Best Jeans" (O, the Oprah Magazine), to the classic Southern style megabrand Southern Tide, named one of the fastest growing companies in SC. Start saving your pennies and get ready to shop ‘til you drop!

An historic downtown, diverse restaurants, wonderful shopping, and tree-lined neighborhoods all characterize the greater Greenville area. But hidden among our foothills lay hiking trails waiting to be explored. We live in a veritable toy store full of outdoor destinations rich in history, eco-diversity and high altitude. Come on...let's find the best path to hike!

Nestled in the heart of Upstate South Carolina, Greenville boasts a variety of sustainable farmers and urban gardeners as seen at the ever-popular TD Saturday Market in downtown Greenville. As interest in and demand for local foods continues to grow, Greenville is reconnecting with its agrarian heritage and the number of small, sustainable farms steadily increases. Once Greenville launches into spring and summer, grab your sneakers, a cooler, and your car keys for a day of local farm-hopping!

After the many days of cold and beautiful snow, spring has sprung at Greenville's local garden shops - and what a welcome sight.  Goodbye snow shovels...HELLO bright colorful pots, bags of potting soil, and delightful blossoms of yellow, white, and pink! A Greenville spring is a beautiful thing, so let's go yard and garden shop-hopping.
