The Carolina Countryside Tour

The Upstate countryside is full of great destinations and experiences. This tour will take you in the comfort of a spacious tour van on an 80-mile journey to many of the unique gems that await your discovery. You will be introduced to scenic routes and mountain overlooks, historic sites, restaurants, and a unique tea farm for a fantastic and memorable afternoon.

You will be picked up in downtown Greenville and make your way to the countryside, learning about the history, venues, and sights all along the way. Upon arriving at the base of Table Rock mountain, you’ll experience a true country meal at Aunt Sue’s Country Corner. A short drive along one of South Carolina’s most scenic routes, Highway 11, takes the tour to the best viewing spot of Table Rock Mountain. Then across the road will be a visit to Table Rock Tea Farm, one of the few tea farms in the United States. Here you’ll go on a thorough tour explaining the process from seeding, planting and growing with visits to the fields, greenhouse, and the room where the drying, oxidation, packaging and more takes place. Tastings of freshly brewed tea from the farm will show you why this place is so special.

After the tea farm, the tour will continue to some of the best overlook spots for Table Rock Mountain, a place that has been attracting visitors to see its vistas since the early 1800s. After seeing more of the beautiful countryside and seeing country stores, old houses, and the old Swamp Rabbit Railroad path, the next stop will have you arrive at the historic Poinsett Bridge. When Joel Poinsett was President of the Board of Public Works, he oversaw the construction of the stone bridge in 1820. It is now the oldest extant bridge in South Carolina and is a favorite county photography spot.

Next is a short drive to the Cherokee Valley Country Club, one of the great golf communities in the foothills. At the clubhouse a seat at the chef’s table of Core 450 Restaurant, one of the newest and tastiest kitchens in the county, awaits you. Guests will be treated to a visit with the chef and specially prepared dishes and drinks that will be the perfect final stop to an afternoon experience you’ll want to tell all your friends about.
