ARTISPHERE: VIRTUAL FOR 2020
Presented by TD Bank
ARTISPHERE 2020: The Virtual Experience
The 16th-annual Artisphere, presented by TD Bank, is Greenville, South Carolina’s signature cultural event that engages, inspires, and enriches the community through a celebration of the arts. Named the "#3 Best Art Show in the Country" (USA TODAY’), a “Top 10 Fine Art Show in the Country” (Art Fair Sourcebook) and “Best Art Fair in America” (ArtFairCalendar.com), this year's event will now be held virtually October 2-4, 2020.
In addition to an Artist’s Market featuring art for sale from more than 70 juried professionals from around the country, throughout the weekend the public can virtually connect with artists, follow along with cool demos, and engage in a variety of fun kid crafts.
The Artist’s Market will open to the public at 8pm on Friday, October 2. Participating artists will have multiple pieces for sale in an online marketplace, where patrons can seamlessly browse and shop from a varied and curated selection of art, from pottery to oils to jewelry. The marketplace will work similar to an auction, with a starting bid price, bid increments, and a "Buy It Now" price for patrons ready to purchase. The auction will close on Sunday night at 12 AM.
On Saturday, October 3, patrons can tune in for a number of panel discussions. "Behind the Scenes with the 2020 Jurors" illuminates the process of selecting artists for Artisphere, and "Art in Public Places" engages muralists and art professionals in a lively discussion about the importance of arts in the community. The public will be able to watch a printmaking demonstration with artist Sunny Mullarkey and a graffiti demonstration on a new food truck with Nick Burns, aka Ninja Picasso. A tribute to Artisphere fan-favorite Brian Olsen will stream, and the 2020 Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition will be revealed in an online gallery. Metal worker Ryan Calloway and Soteria CDC will be featured on Artisphere's virtual Demo Row. Kidsphere activities for tiny art lovers will be streamed throughout the day with at-home craft projects, music, and interactive exhibits.
On Sunday October 4 the virtual fun continues with the Remotely Creative At-Home challenge winner reveal, more activities for kids, and exciting artist demonstrations and panel discussions like "Tips for Buying Art Online."
