Lake Jocassee

Known For: Scuba diving excursions to explore the remnants of a submerged town, biodiversity, and nearby waterfalls


Lake Jocassee was named one of "50 of the World's Last Great Places—Destinations of a Lifetime" by National Geographic, and the 7,500-acre lake serves as a favorite spot for boaters and swimmers alike. The uniqueness of this lake can be explored by diving to see now-submerged towns (as shown in the movie Deliverance before the lake was created in the 1970s).

Lake Robinson, located just outside downtown Greer, SC, is an 800-acre lake with a quiet atmosphere. Swimming is not permitted, and motorized boats are limited to 10 horsepower, making this lake perfect for those seeking a more relaxed, nature-focused experience.

  • Watercraft Rentals: Located within walking distance from Lake Robinson, you'll find kayaks and paddleboards (along with bait & tackle) at Cole's Bait Shop & Kayak Rental.
     

  • Where to Explore: Enjoy the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and lake access at Lake Robinson Park or J. Verne Smith Park.

Known For: Being a hidden gem with charming, family-friendly vibes in close proximity to Downtown Greenville


Saluda Lake is a quaint 331-acre reservoir located a short drive from Downtown Greenville, making it feel like one of the county's best-kept secrets. Its smaller scale and laid-back atmosphere make it easy to spend some time on the water without having to venture too far from the city. 

  • Watercraft Rentals: Kayaks, paddleboards, canoes & tubes are available for rent at Saluda Lake Landing. For frequent visitors, monthly memberships are available.
