Plan the Perfect Fall Road Trip

A 65-Mile Itinerary to Discover the Best of Autumn in Greenville County

Stop #1: Coffee Stop at The Village Grind

The exterior of coffeeshop, The Village Grind, in the Village of West Greenville, South Carolina.

Every adventure needs a little caffeine to fuel the journey, so kick things off at The Village Grind, a cozy coffee and tea spot in West Greenville's neighborhood known as The Village. Whether you're grabbing a seasonal drink to go (like their maple brown sugar latte) or savoring the moment before hitting the road, The Village Grind is a must-stop spot on any trip.

Stop #2: Take Sightseeing to New Heights at Bald Rock Heritage Preserve

A fall road trip isn't complete without sweeping views of a mountain range and vibrant colors of the changing foliage. Pack a blanket and your camera to capture it all at Bald Rock Heritage Preserve, a natural scenic overlook that's one of autumn's best leaf-peeping spots.

A wooden footbridge leads to a huge overlook on a rock outcropping that's roughly the size of a football field. The summit is grand enough to put any fear of heights to rest, and when you're taking in sights like Table Rock in the distance, it's hard not to feel awestruck.

Up Geer Highway, Caesars Head State Park awaits with an accessible overlook that will take your breath away.

Pro Tip: Each year between September and November, hundreds of hawks take to the skies for an annual migration. Since 1988, Caesars Head State Park has granted a front-row seat to witness this spectacle and one of the most dramatic views of South Carolina.

Stop #5: Enjoy Refined Dining at Hotel Domestique

End your road trip with an evening dinner in Travelers Rest, a charming town with incredible dining and outdoor recreation. Visit Restaurant 17 at the award-winning Hotel Domestique for a taste of Europe and panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
