Back to Top1. Where to See Spring in Full Color
Greenville’s gardens and trails come to life in the spring, and the season really hits its stride in early to mid-April. For peak blooms, don't miss iconic spots like Falls Park on the Reedy, the 32-acre Downtown park with the largest public garden in the area, or Linky Stone Park: The Children's Garden, a whimsical, kid-friendly garden that feels like it's straight out of a storybook.
Just north of Downtown on Furman's campus is the Furman Rose Garden, an intimate setting featuring over 800 rose bushes, manicured hedges, and a 19th-century gazebo as a charming focal point. In Clemson, 295 acres of curated beauty, an arboretum, a geology museum, a National Heritage Garden Museum, and the only nature-based sculpture collection of its kind are all housed at the South Carolina Botanical Garden.
The list doesn't end there, and Greenville is home to plenty of spots to soak in the season's color. The most historic spot to add to your blooming bucket list might be the Kilgore-Lewis House, a nationally registered historic home on 5 acres of landscaped grounds, including a wildflower garden, a sensory garden, a pond, and a large collection of native and ornamental plants. The home is open for public tours on Wednesdays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while the arboretum is open daily for self-guided tours.
Bonus Blooms: On May 16th and 17th, the Greenville Council of Garden Clubs will hold its Spring 2025 Garden Tour, highlighting five private woodland gardens on Paris Mountain, each offering beautiful views of Greenville and the surrounding foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Tickets are available online!
Insider's Tip: Visit Falls Park on the Reedy early in the morning for the best light for photos!

Spring was practically made for patios, picnics, and brunch, and when you add in Greenville's 80+ restaurants with outdoor seating options, there's no better time to grab a table outside.
For lunchtime views overlooking the Liberty Bridge at Falls Park, Passerelle Bistro's patio is undeniably one of Greenville's most iconic outdoor dining settings. Grab a seat at other local favorites like Limoncello, O-Ku Sushi, or Foxcroft Wine Co., where fresh flavors meet fresh air. If you prefer to dine more casually, pick up to-go eats and head to one of Greenville's parks for a springtime picnic. Our picnic pairings include easy grab-and-go meals from Spinx Market & Eatery and a short walk to the Carolina Foothills Garden Club Sanctuary, or enjoying a bite to eat from local food hall The Commons, and relaxing at the neighboring Unity Park. If brunch is your jam, then your spring visit needs to include staples like Soby's New South Cuisine (try the fried chicken & bubbles), breakfast sandwiches from Upcountry Provisions Bakery & Bistro, or White Wine & Butter's cajun and creole-inspired menu.

Trails and Tee Times to Get Outdoors
Back to Top4. Hit the Trails or Tee Off This Spring
Warmer temps and longer days make spring the perfect season to explore the outdoors and spend time on your favorite pastime, like hiking or golfing. The mild climate is also great for less strenuous outings like peaceful nature walks or leisurely bike rides. Whether you're chasing a view or just looking to stretch your legs, there's a trail (or tee) for you.
Hike:
Lace up your hiking boots to explore some of Greenville's incredible outdoor spaces. Spend the afternoon hiking the trails at Paris Mountain State Park, exploring the wildlife and wetlands at Conestee Nature Preserve, or take a day trip to see rolling mountain views at Caesars Head State Park.
Waterfalls:
Looking to chase a waterfall or two? Discover the beauty of Raven Cliff Falls (moderate to strenuous hiking required) or check out the lowest level of Wildcat Wayside Falls (roadside pull-off, no hiking required).
Golf:
Book a tee time at one of the popular public courses, such as Cherokee Valley Golf Club or The Preserve at Verdae, or bring the whole family for fun at 3's Golf & Grill or Topgolf. Insider's Tip: McPherson Park is a hidden gem that offers free mini golf at its 18-hole putt-putt course! You'll need your own gear, but this family favorite is tons of fun!
